NEW DELHI, Nov 21: Home Minister Amit Shah described the recently enacted labour codes as the most significant reforms in the history of India’s labour laws, aimed at simplifying regulations and improving the ease of doing business.

Speaking at an event highlighting labour reforms, Shah emphasized that the new codes consolidate 29 central labour laws into four comprehensive codes, covering wages, industrial relations, social security, and occupational safety. This consolidation is expected to create a transparent and efficient system for both employers and workers.

He noted that the reforms are designed to balance the rights of workers with the needs of industry, ensuring social security, fair wages, and better working conditions while fostering employment growth and economic development.

The Home Minister underlined that the labour codes mark a historic shift in India’s regulatory framework, paving the way for a more modern, flexible, and competitive workforce environment.
