Jammu: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday arrived in Jammu to review the devastation caused by recent floods that have claimed over 130 lives across multiple districts since mid-August.
Accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Shah inspected the swollen Tawi river from the Bikram Chowk bridge to assess the damage along its banks.
He is also scheduled to visit Manguchak village, one of the worst-affected areas, before conducting an aerial survey of flood-hit regions.
Later in the day, the home minister will chair two meetings at Raj Bhawan — one focused on immediate relief operations and another on the floods’ impact on the border security grid.
The disaster, triggered by cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods, has caused severe damage in Kishtwar, Kathua, Reasi, and Ramban districts.
