New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reviewed the situation following a powerful blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed eight people and left 24 injured, officials said.

According to sources, Shah spoke with the Delhi Police Commissioner, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief, and the Union Home Secretary to assess the situation. He also directed the National Security Guard (NSG), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and forensic experts to immediately dispatch specialized teams to the site to assist in the investigation and evidence collection.

Officials said the NSG team includes explosive experts, while the NIA team comprises officers experienced in handling terror-related cases. Forensic specialists have also reached the scene.

The high-intensity explosion occurred on Monday evening when a car blew up near the Red Fort Metro Station, setting several nearby vehicles on fire. The blast took place during peak evening hours when the area was crowded with people.
