Kishtwar:In its endeavor to increase outreach and spread awareness amongst the Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris/Veer Matas and Widows to enable them to utilize various Government schemes, Indian Army organized an Ex-Servicemen Rally at Thathri. The day-long event started with an inaugural address followed by an open house session wherein the Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris/Veer Matas, Widows and their dependents gave out their suggestions. The Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Wing Commander Teerath Singh delivered a lecture on the issues pertaining to pension disbursement and various benefit/schemes available for Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris/Veer Matas and Widows.
Zila Sainik Welfare Officer also educated them about functioning of Ex-Servicemen Help Line and Pensioner benefits with special emphasis on post retirement schemes. During the Rally, a medical camp was organised wherein a lady doctor from District Hospital, Doda and Regimental Medical Officer, Indian Army examined the patients and addressed their health issues. During the rally, various stalls i.e. ICICI Bank, ICICI Life Insurance, HDFC Bank, HDFC Life Insurance, Ex-Servicemen Cell Indian Army were placed for convenience of Ex-Servicemen. Representative of Prahari Param explained various job opportunities available for the Ex-Servicemen. Furthermore, Unit Run Canteen and Utility Shop facilities by Indian Army were also provided at the Rally site. Ex-servicemen helpline counters were functional throughout the event wherein the grievances of Ex-Servicemen were noted for redressal. Commander Indian Army interacted with the participants and felicitated the Veer Naris/Veer Matas and widows.
Indian Army also felicitated Smt Kunta Devi w/o Late Shri Kuldeep Kumar and Smt Shaina Begam w/o Shri Nazir Ahmed martyr VDGs of village Ohli, Kuntwara District, Kishtwar. The rally successfully concluded with assurances of working positively towards alleviating the problems of Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris/Veer Matas and Widows. The event culminated with lunch for the Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris/Veer Matas, Widows and their dependents. A total str of 298 Ex-Servicemen, 05 Veer Naris/Veer Matas, 01 Widow, 02 widows of VDGs and 66 dependents from Kishtwar/Doda district attended the event.
