Anantnag authorities have imposed a ban on the sale of Priyagold Butter Delite biscuits after laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of sulphite levels beyond the permissible limit.
Officials said the action followed routine sampling and testing carried out to ensure food safety compliance across the district. The laboratory report flagged excessive sulphite content in the product, prompting immediate regulatory measures.
The district administration has directed all retailers and distributors to stop the sale, distribution and storage of the biscuit batch with immediate effect. Enforcement teams have been asked to conduct market checks to ensure strict adherence to the order.
Authorities said the ban will remain in force until further directions, adding that consumer safety remains the top priority and no compromise will be tolerated in matters related to public health.
