Anupgarh/Jaipur: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that the country must halt its sponsorship of terrorism if it wishes to retain its place on the global stage.
Addressing troops in Anupgarh, Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) emphasized that the restraint shown by India during Operation Sindoor would not be repeated in any future conflict. He urged soldiers to remain vigilant and ready.
“India is fully prepared this time. Unlike Operation Sindoor 1.0, we will not show restraint. Our actions will make Pakistan question whether it wants to remain on the world map,” General Dwivedi said.
He reiterated that Pakistan must end state-sponsored terrorism to maintain its international standing. Advising troops to stay prepared, he added, “Keep yourselves fully ready; if God wills, the opportunity will come soon.”
Gen. Dwivedi highlighted that Operation Sindoor exposed terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, providing evidence to the international community. “Had we not acted, Pakistan would have concealed these sites,” he said.
Recalling the April 22 Pahalgam attack, he noted that the world supported India’s retaliatory strike. During the operation, the Indian military targeted nine locations in Pakistan—seven by the Army and two by the Air Force—focused solely on terrorist bases.
“We aimed only at terrorists, not ordinary Pakistani citizens, as long as their country refrains from sponsoring terrorism. Because they did, these targets were struck,” he explained.
On the role of civilians near the international border, the Army chief said, “We view them not merely as residents but as soldiers, standing shoulder to shoulder with us. The upcoming struggle is the nation’s struggle, not just the Army’s.”
He recalled the support of ordinary citizens during the 1965 and 1971 wars and expressed hope they would continue to stand with the armed forces. “Their spirit strengthens the morale of our soldiers,” he said.
