Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a “huge decline” in terrorism over the past few years, crediting improved operational synergy, stronger intelligence networks, and the unwavering support of local communities for the positive shift in the security landscape.

The Army Chief noted that sustained counter-terror measures, including targeted operations, enhanced border surveillance, and intensified crackdowns on terror modules, have significantly weakened militant infrastructure across the region. He added that infiltration attempts along the Line of Control have dropped sharply due to advanced technological systems and vigilant monitoring by security forces.

General Dwivedi emphasized that the prevailing peace and stability are a result of collaborative efforts between the Army, police, central forces, and civil administration. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment that enables uninterrupted development and socio-economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army Chief reaffirmed that while the situation has improved substantially, security forces remain alert and fully prepared to counter any attempts to revive terrorism in the Union Territory.
