Leh: The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, visited forward areas in Ladakh to assess the operational preparedness of troops, the Army said.
Arriving in Leh on September 27, Lt Gen Sharma commended the high morale and unwavering commitment of personnel deployed in the region.
According to a post by the Northern Command on X late Monday night, the Army commander reviewed operational readiness at the Siachen Brigade, units in Eastern Ladakh, and the Karakoram Pass. He lauded the dedication and resilience of all ranks during his interactions.
At the Siachen Base Camp, Lt Gen Sharma met the winners of the National Flag Quiz, praising their patriotism and spirit. He also flagged off a mountaineering expedition to a challenging peak over 7,000 metres, applauding the team’s indomitable spirit and contribution to setting new benchmarks in mountaineering.
Earlier on September 27, the Northern Commander called on Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta to discuss the situation in violence-hit Leh town. The meeting, according to Raj Bhavan, focused on the overall security environment, emerging challenges, and the need for greater coordination between civil authorities and the armed forces to ensure peace and stability.
