Army Jawan Dies of Medical Complications in Ladakh, Laid to Rest with Full Military Honours in Jammu

Jammu: An Indian Army jawan who died due to medical complications while on duty in Ladakh was cremated with full military honours in his native village near Jammu on Monday, officials said.

Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma and personnel of the Northern Command paid rich tributes to the soldier.

“The Northern Command stands firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” the command said in a post on X.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Fire and Fury Corps and all ranks also paid homage to Lance Naik Harvinder Saini and extended their condolences to his family.

The mortal remains of the jawan, fondly known as Happy, son of Preetam Singh, were brought from Leh to his home in Arnia Kalan village, wrapped in the national tricolour, officials said.

Hundreds of people from nearby border areas gathered to pay their final respects. From Jammu airport to the village, locals organised a tricolour rally to honour his service and sacrifice.

Lance Naik Harvinder Saini was laid to rest with full military honours as fellow soldiers paid a solemn salute to the braveheart.
