Army Defuses Seven Unexploded Bombs Near Waste Management Plant in Kargil

KARGIL: The Army on Friday safely defused seven unexploded ordnance, including bombs, found near the Municipal Committee’s Solid Waste Management Plant in Kargil district of Ladakh, officials said.

Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, a team of Sappers from the Forever in Operations Division successfully neutralised the live munitions at Kurbathang.

Officials said the first unexploded ordnance was discovered by staff of the municipal committee near the waste facility. The matter was immediately reported to the District Magistrate, who promptly informed the Station Commander of the 121 Brigade.

Responding swiftly, the Army team reached the site, defused the ordnance, and carried out a thorough sanitisation of the area. During the operation, six more unexploded bombs were detected and safely destroyed, officials added.
