Army rescues 308 people in Jammu-Pathankot sector, including 56 BSF personnel

Jammu: The Army intensified rescue operations from Jammu to Gurdaspur on Thursday, deploying 20 columns and evacuating 308 people, including 56 BSF personnel, from flood-affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, officials said.

Since Tuesday, the total number of people rescued has risen to 943.

The Rising Star Corps continues its relentless operations in flood-hit districts, including Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Pathankot, and Gurdaspur. Officials reported that among those rescued were 50 children from an orphanage in R.S. Pura, along with 56 BSF personnel. Overall, 943 people—including 21 CRPF personnel—have been evacuated, while essential supplies, medicines, and restoration of vital data connectivity in Jammu have been ensured for affected communities.

To strengthen flood relief efforts, the GOC of the Rising Star Corps personally interacted with troops and Army Aviation personnel, commending their unwavering commitment.

In a rapid humanitarian response, a security forces helicopter evacuated 16 critically ill patients—including 13 locals—from the remote flood-hit terrain of Pargwal. The patients, comprising pregnant women, dialysis patients, and burn injury cases, were safely transported to civil hospitals.
