Poonch, Dec 5: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi visited forward areas in Poonch district on Friday to review the operational preparedness of troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC), officials said.
During the visit, the Commander interacted with field commanders and soldiers, taking stock of the security situation and readiness measures in place. He was briefed on the operational posture, surveillance systems, and coordination between units to counter infiltration attempts and maintain peace in the region.
Officials said the Army Commander appreciated the high standards of professionalism and morale displayed by the troops despite challenging terrain and weather conditions. He emphasised the importance of maintaining vigilance and operational synergy to ensure the safety of local communities and the integrity of the border.
The visit comes amid heightened security focus in border districts, with the Army continuing to strengthen its counter‑infiltration grid and enhance coordination with other security agencies. Authorities said the review was part of routine operational assessments carried out to ensure preparedness across sensitive sectors.
