Jammu: Police on Tuesday uncovered a criminal network linking a Jammu Central University student with local criminals for the sale of weapons and arrested a notorious offender with two firearms in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The breakthrough came when authorities arrested Kaif Ahmed, a student from Barharia village in Siwan district, Bihar, on July 11, in connection with illegal firearms trafficking.
Ahmed was reportedly involved in transporting and selling weapons, including pistols and kattas, from Bihar to local criminals. Police also recovered a country-made pistol from him.
During interrogation, Ahmed revealed links to the criminal Balwinder Singh, also known as Goru Jatt, who was subsequently arrested in Vijaypur. Police recovered a country-made pistol from Singh as well.
Further investigations led to the recovery of an additional country-made revolver from Ranjari village.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
