Mumbai: The highly anticipated preview of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, was unveiled on Wednesday in a grand Mumbai event.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan graced the stage to launch the preview, bringing his trademark humour and charisma. He offered the audience a sneak peek into the show’s making and engaged in an engaging conversation with the team.
Recalling his first discussion with Aryan, Shah Rukh said, “When Aryan told me he wanted to make something raw, edgy, and mad about Bollywood, I initially wondered if Mannat’s CCTV footage was going on YouTube! But he was actually creating something fresh and unique. It took me a while to grasp the tone, but once I did, I was completely drawn in. I’m thrilled, not just for the show, but for the entire cast bringing these characters to life.”
Thanking audiences for three decades of support, the Jawan star welcomed his son to the stage. Aryan, admitting to being “very nervous”, said, “I’ve been practising this speech for two days and three nights, using notes and a teleprompter. And even if I stumble, Papa’s here as backup.”
He added, “This show aims to bring entertainment to as many people as possible. After four years of hard work, countless discussions, and thousands of takes, it’s finally ready.” Aryan also thanked the team before inviting his mother, Gauri Khan, to the stage, jokingly saying, “Thank you for producing the show… and for producing me.”
Aryan looked dapper in an all-black ensemble, perfectly coordinating with his parents.
Before the preview, Shah Rukh introduced the lead cast, including Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Raghav Juyal, and Anya Singh. Bobby Deol, playing “Superstar Ajay Talvar”, also made a striking appearance, praising Aryan: “I’ve seen him grow up, and there’s something magical about him. He had the conviction to tell this story and conquer the world.”
Sharing the preview on Instagram, the makers wrote, “Bohot hard. Aur bohot heart bhi.”
The video highlights Bollywood as the “city of dreams”—a world not accessible to everyone. It shows the protagonist, Aasmaan Singh, romancing the daughter of India’s biggest superstar, played by Bobby Deol. Raghav Juyal appears as his best friend, while Mona Singh plays his mother. The preview also features cameo appearances by Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar, with other stars, including Ranbir Kapoor, expected to appear. Shah Rukh himself will also feature, though details about his character remain under wraps.
The teaser closes with a playful dig at those who gain fame after jail time. The official trailer is yet to be released.
According to the press release, “The show is fast-paced, set in a stylised yet chaotic world, laced with self-aware humour and a tongue-in-cheek tone. It’s the ultimate underdog story—asking how far you’ll go for your dream, what you’re willing to lose, and whether you can survive a few Bollywood baddies along the way.”
The first look of The Ba**ds of Bollywood* dropped on Sunday, announcing the preview launch. Written and directed by Aryan Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, the show marks his directorial debut. It is set to premiere on the OTT platform on September 18, 2025.
