Australia became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup after a commanding 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Visakhapatnam on Thursday night. The win propelled Australia to the top of the points table with nine points from five matches, while Bangladesh stayed sixth with two points.
Chasing 199 after Bangladesh chose to bat first, openers Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield cruised to the target in under 25 overs, putting together an unbeaten 202-run stand — the second-highest partnership for any wicket against Bangladesh Women in ODIs. The record remains with South Africa’s Tasmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt, who shared a 243-run stand in Benoni in 2023.
Leg-spinner Alana King was adjudged Player of the Match for her impressive performance. In today’s fixture, South Africa will face Sri Lanka in Colombo at 3 PM.
