Sharjah: Australia’s stand-in captain Tahlia McGrath won the toss and elected to bat against India in their Group A match of the Women’s T20 World Cup here on Sunday.

India made one change to bring back seamer Pooja Vastrakar in place of Sajeevan Sajana while Australia made two changes to bring back Grace Harris and Darcie Brown.

Just before the start of play, India were forced to make another change as Asha Sobhana, who suffered an injury during warm-up, was replaced by Radha Yadav.

“Ms Asha Sobhana is unable to participate in today’s game against Australia after she suffered a knee injury during the warm-up on the sidelines of toss. Radha Yadav will replace Asha in the Playing XI,” a BCCI statement said.

“The ICC Match Referee requested the Australian captain who agreed to the request for a replacement in India’s Playing XI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Asha’s progress.”

Alyssa Healy is missing this match for Australia due to an injury.

India are placed second behind Australia in the points table and a win in this game will bolster their chances of making the semifinals.

Teams:

India: Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, Renuka Singh Thakur.
