Awareness Programme on “Promoting Emotional Well-being among Students” held at GGM Science College

JAMMU: The Manodarpan Psychological Counselling Cell of GGM Science College, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell, today organized an awareness programme on the theme “Fostering Emotional Well-being among Students” in the college conference hall. The event was held under the aegis of Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 200 students and faculty members, making it an engaging and interactive experience.

Dr. Romesh Kumar, Psychologist/Counselor and Head of Department at DIET Jammu, served as the Resource Person. In his address, he delivered an insightful and interactive talk highlighting the importance of emotional balance and mental well-being in both academic and personal spheres. He stressed upon the values of self-awareness, empathy, and resilience as essential components of emotional health.

The session also included a series of hands-on activities related to mental wellness, such as breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, and simple yoga asanas. These exercises equipped participants with practical tools to enhance concentration, reduce stress, and build emotional stability in everyday life.

In her remarks, Dr. Vandana Khajuria, In-charge Principal of the college, underscored the importance of emotional well-being as a vital aspect of students’ holistic growth and development. She lauded the efforts of the organizing team for conducting a timely and impactful programme.

Earlier, the event began with a welcome address by Bal Krishan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, and Convener of the Manodarpan Psychological Counselling Cell, who introduced the guest speaker and outlined the objectives of the Manodarpan initiative. Dr. Yasmeen Mughal from the Department of English also shared her reflections on the theme of the event.
