Dhaka: Dengue cases continue to rise in Bangladesh, with six new deaths reported on Thursday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 a.m. local time Thursday, the country recorded 647 new infections. This brings the total number of dengue cases in Bangladesh this year to 40,461, the DGHS said.
The DGHS, under the Ministry of Health, also reported that the death toll from the disease has reached 167 in 2025.
The latest figures highlight the rapid spread of the mosquito-borne illness in several parts of the country. Dengue season in Bangladesh typically peaks during the June–September monsoon period, with the nation considered highly vulnerable to mosquito-borne diseases.
