New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Mithun Manhas hailed Team India’s dominant 2-0 Test series victory over the West Indies, commending the team’s all-round performance and the contributions of young stars Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test.

Manhas took to X to applaud the players, writing, “Top performance from @ShubmanGill, Yashasvi & Kuldeep in the second Test. Many congratulations to Team India for winning the Test and the series 2-0.”

Gill and Jaiswal led the charge with sublime centuries, while Kuldeep starred with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul in the first innings to put India in a commanding position. The series win, marked by a fine blend of youth and experience, further reinforces India’s status as a powerhouse in red-ball cricket as they continue their march in the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

In the second Test, after opting to bat first, India piled up 518/5 (declared). Yashasvi Jaiswal (175 off 258 balls, 22 fours) anchored the innings with solid partnerships—193 runs with debutant Sai Sudharsan (87) and 74 with skipper Shubman Gill. Gill remained unbeaten on 129, registering his fifth century of the year, while Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) and Dhruv Jurel (44*) provided valuable support down the order.

West Indies, in reply, were bundled out for 248, with Kuldeep Yadav (5/82) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/46) wreaking havoc on a slow track. Following on, the hosts showed resistance through a 177-run partnership between John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103), while lower-order efforts from Justin Greaves (50) and Jayden Seales (32) helped them reach 390 — giving them a slender 120-run lead.

In the fourth innings, India chased down the 121-run target comfortably, led by KL Rahul’s unbeaten 58*, despite losing Yashasvi early.

Kuldeep Yadav’s match-winning spell earned him the Player of the Match award, while Ravindra Jadeja, with a century in Ahmedabad and eight wickets in the series, was named Player of the Series — his third such honour in Test cricket.

With this emphatic 2-0 win, India once again underlined their dominance at home and the emergence of a confident new generation of red-ball cricketers.
