Patna: Emphasising that “being a Bihari is now a matter of pride,” Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday appealed to the people to vote for the NDA in the upcoming assembly elections to ensure faster development of the state.
In a video message shared by his party, JD(U), on social media, Kumar said that he has always prioritised the growth of Bihar over personal or family interests.
Highlighting the transformation since his government took office in November 2005, Kumar said law and order in the state had “remarkably improved.”
“People remember the condition of Bihar before 2005. Our first focus was on restoring law and order and establishing the rule of law. Today, being a Bihari is a matter of pride,” the chief minister stated.
The JD(U) leader added that his government has worked for the empowerment of women, and the welfare of all communities—Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, Dalits, backward and weaker sections alike.
“You have given me the opportunity to serve the state since 2005. We have implemented numerous measures for Bihar’s all-round development, and our efforts will continue,” the septuagenarian said.
Kumar asserted that Bihar’s “accelerated growth” was the result of the “double-engine government” of the NDA at both the Centre and the state.
“This partnership must continue. I urge you to give the NDA another chance so that the development journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership carries on,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment, the chief minister added, “I have never done anything for my family—Bihar’s progress has always been my only goal. I appeal to you to support NDA candidates once again to help us build a ‘Viksit Bihar’ and make it one of India’s leading states.”
The 243-member Bihar Assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
