RAJOURI: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), organized the Startup India Challenge on Friday at the University Auditorium, Polytechnic Block. Registrar BGSBU, Abhishek Sharma, was the Chief Guest.
In his address, the Registrar highlighted the importance of startup initiatives in driving innovation and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to actively pursue sustainable business ideas and assured them that the University is dedicated to fostering a vibrant startup culture. He further announced that BGSBU plans to invite nationally renowned business leaders to guide students on their entrepreneurial journeys. Additionally, he revealed that several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading institutions and organizations are underway to strengthen the University’s startup ecosystem. He also announced the forthcoming formation of a National Advisory Committee to provide expert mentorship and strategic guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. A. A. Shah, Faculty In-charge of the Startup and Innovation Cell, who reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem. This was followed by the Chief Guest’s address.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Mubashir Malik, Head of the Department of Information Technology & Engineering (ITE). Mr. Mehraj, District Nodal Officer of JKEDI, also presented an overview of various startup programs and opportunities available through the institute.
During the event, 17 innovative startup ideas were showcased before a jury of four distinguished judges. Following thorough evaluation, three ideas were shortlisted for the final round.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of around 500 students, along with Deans, Principals, Directors, Heads of Departments, University officers, JKEDI officials, and other dignitaries. It provided a dynamic platform for students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial potential and interact with experts from both academia and industry.
