BGSBU Registrar Delivers Keynote Lecture on Gandhian Philosophy
RAJOURI: As part of the ongoing Seva Parv campaign, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) today commenced a week-long lecture series on Gandhian Philosophy. Scheduled from September 24 to 30, 2025, the series is an integral part of the University’s Induction Programme for newly admitted students of History, Political Science, and Geography, aiming to familiarize them with the enduring teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
The programme opened with a welcome address by Dr. A.A. Shah, Associate Professor, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology. The inaugural session was graced by BGSBU Registrar Abhishek Sharma, who delivered the keynote lecture on Gandhian Philosophy.
Highlighting the initiative as a significant step toward shaping young minds, the Registrar encouraged students to seek guidance from Gandhiji’s Talisman during moments of doubt and critical decision-making. He elaborated on Gandhi’s vision of self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), economic freedom, self-sufficient villages, non-violence, truth, honesty, and communal harmony. Emphasizing the continuing relevance of these ideals, he observed that Gandhian philosophy remains a living legacy that reflects the collective conscience of every Indian.
“Adopting Gandhian principles in our daily lives is the most meaningful tribute to the Father of the Nation,” he said, extending best wishes to the faculty and staff for their dedication to fostering the University’s academic environment.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shamas Kamal Anjum, Associate Dean, School of Social Sciences, who praised the Registrar’s visionary role in BGSBU’s ongoing transformation.
The event was attended by senior faculty members, including Dr. Marya Aslam, Head of Political Science; Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Head of Sociology; and Tazeem Akhter, Head of History, along with students and staff of the University.
