Rajouri, December 20: A major milestone was achieved at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) today with the long-awaited start of construction on the Indoor Sports Stadium, a project that had been delayed for several years despite its importance for the university’s growth.

The beginning of this work marks the revival of a long-held vision and reflects renewed confidence and momentum in the university’s development. More than just a building, the Indoor Sports Stadium represents BGSBU’s commitment to student welfare, encouraging sports, and promoting holistic growth beyond academics.

For any university, infrastructure is about more than bricks and mortar—it is about creating spaces that inspire learning, foster community, and enhance campus life. The new stadium is set to become a hub for sports, fitness, student engagement, and cultural activities, complementing the university’s broader educational and social goals.

The project also underscores proper use and management of university land. With support from the District Administration Rajouri and close supervision by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, land previously tied up in delays has now been secured, and development work is underway, highlighting a transparent and accountable approach to growth.

This long-pending project has been made possible under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, whose focused and decisive approach has turned years of planning into tangible results. The university community has welcomed the development, seeing it as a turning point that shows even long-delayed projects can be successfully completed through determination, coordination, and effective leadership.
