Bharat Parv 2025 to be Celebrated from Nov 1–15 to Mark Sardar Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary: Amit Shah
Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced that Bharat Parv 2025 will be celebrated across the country from November 1 to 15 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Shah said a grand parade will now be held every year on October 31 at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat to mark Patel’s birth anniversary. The first such parade will take place this Friday at 7:55 am, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending and offering floral tributes at the Statue of Unity, followed by Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Shah said, “The 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India and the architect of national unity, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, will be celebrated at the Statue of Unity, symbolising the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.”
He added that this year’s National Unity Day celebrations will feature a series of special events, including a grand parade modeled on the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. The parade will see participation from contingents of central paramilitary forces and various state police units, along with a cultural programme showcasing India’s rich diversity.
Shah also announced that on November 15, a special celebration will be held at the Statue of Unity to honour tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
Criticising the Congress, Shah alleged that the party failed to confer the Bharat Ratna on Sardar Patel for 41 years. “Along with Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel was a pillar of India’s freedom movement and played a crucial role in uniting the country. Yet, Congress tried to erase his legacy by not building any memorial in his name,” he said.
“In contrast, the NDA government built the Statue of Unity, an engineering marvel that stands as a lasting tribute to the Iron Man of India,” Shah added.
