NEW DELHI: Over 7.4 crore people are eligible to vote in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, including 14 lakh first-time voters, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced on Monday.

The CEC emphasized that the elections in Bihar will be conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.

“There are a total of 7.42 crore voters in Bihar, comprising 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women. Among them, 14 lakh are first-time voters, and 4 lakh are senior citizens,” Kumar said at a press conference.

Notably, at least 14,000 voters in the state are over 100 years old.

A total of 90,712 polling stations are being established across Bihar.

Kumar added that strict instructions have been issued to ensure zero tolerance for violence, leaving no room for any threat to voters or candidates.
