Karachi: At least six people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday following a powerful explosion in Pakistan’s volatile Balochistan province, according to media reports.
The blast took place near Zarghoon Road in Quetta, The Express Tribune reported. Citing police sources, the newspaper confirmed that six people lost their lives and at least 19 others sustained injuries.
In response, the Balochistan Health Department declared an emergency in hospitals across the city, Dawn reported, quoting Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman.
“All consultants, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and paramedical staff have been instructed to remain on duty,” Rehman said.
Provincial Health Department Media Coordinator Dr. Waseem Baig told the newspaper that 19 injured individuals were admitted to the Civil Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department and Trauma Centre.
