New Delhi: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty on Sunday announced that the film industry is ready to make a comeback to Kashmir for movie shoots, expressing optimism that the region will soon regain its “lost glory.”

Shetty’s remarks come just months after the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which had dealt a blow to tourism in the Union Territory. Since then, the government has been working to revive travel and film-related activities in the region.

“The shooting in Kashmir will happen 100 percent. Vikram Razdan, Shabbir Boxwala, and my friend Binoy Gandhi are all set to film their projects in Kashmir this year itself. I believe these movies will be completed by next summer,” Shetty told reporters on the sidelines of the BSF Jammu’s closing award ceremony.

Expressing his faith in the revival of the Valley’s film culture, he added, “Our Jammu and Kashmir will regain its lost glory and continue to shine.”

Shetty, who portrayed BSF veteran Bhairav Singh in J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 war film “Border,” praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for organizing the Jammu Marathon, calling it a matter of great pride to be part of the event.

“If people recognize me, it’s because of my role in ‘Border.’ That film will always be remembered. This marathon, organized by the BSF — the first line of defence — is a wonderful initiative. These brave soldiers serve in the toughest terrains to keep us safe,” he said.

The actor also mentioned his participation in the Kashmir Marathon earlier this month, saying, “I always support events that bring people together and promote fitness and unity.”
