Mumbai, Dec 02: An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Hyderabad was forced to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai this morning after authorities received an email warning that a “human bomb” was on board. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E-1234, landed safely at 7:45 am and was immediately moved to an isolation bay for thorough security checks.
Officials confirmed that all 235 passengers and crew members are safe. Security teams, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and bomb disposal squads, carried out detailed inspections of the cabin, baggage hold, and cargo areas. The airport was placed on high alert as emergency protocols were activated.
Authorities revealed that the threat message was received at Hyderabad Airport during the flight’s journey, prompting diversion to Mumbai under established safety procedures. Law enforcement agencies, airport officials, and airline staff coordinated closely to ensure passenger safety and begin investigations.
IndiGo Airlines stated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and that it is cooperating fully with investigative agencies. Officials added that the probe will determine the origin and authenticity of the threat email.
This incident follows a similar bomb threat email received last month on IndiGo’s grievance portal, which triggered a high alert at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport before being declared a hoax. Authorities are examining possible links between the two cases.
Investigations are ongoing, and officials emphasized that strict measures are being taken to prevent any disruption to flight operations while ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
