Srinagar: A grand passing-out parade for 167 recruit constables (tradesmen) was held today at the BSF Subsidiary Training Centre (STC), Humhama, marking their formal induction as Seema Praharis. The recruits, drawn from across the country, took an oath to serve the nation with dedication and integrity.
Inspector General STC Kashmir BSF, Solomon Yash Kumar Minz, presided over the ceremony as the chief guest. He inspected the parade and commended the recruits for successfully completing an intensive 44-week training programme. The training covered weapon handling, firing skills, law, drill, and border management, while also strengthening the recruits’ physical and mental resilience.
A BSF spokesperson noted that the recruits’ “hard work and commitment have significantly enhanced their physical fitness and mental preparedness, equipping them to serve the nation effectively in both peace and conflict.”
Addressing the gathering, IG Minz said that the BSF, as the first line of defence, has not only safeguarded the borders since its inception but has also played a vital role in combating cross-border terrorism and internal militancy with unmatched courage and determination.
He stressed the importance of close cooperation among various security agencies to counter terrorism and narco-terror threats emanating from across the borders. He assured that the BSF, with its robust operational systems, is fully prepared to face emerging challenges.
Praising the recruits for their discipline, confidence, and impeccable coordination during the parade, IG Minz congratulated them on joining the BSF and urged them to serve the nation with courage, dedication, and enthusiasm. He also lauded the training staff of STC Kashmir for their tireless efforts in transforming young recruits into well-trained, confident, and disciplined soldiers.
The chief guest presented medals to recruits who excelled in various indoor and outdoor training activities.
The ceremony was attended by senior BSF officials, members of other security forces, and the proud families of the trainees, who witnessed this memorable milestone in their loved ones’ journey of service to the nation.
