BSF Foils Multiple Drone-Smuggling Attempts, Recovers Drones and Heroin Along Punjab Border
Amritsar: Border Security Force (BSF) troops successfully foiled several drone-based smuggling attempts along the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar on Thursday, recovering multiple drones and packets of heroin.
According to an official statement, acting on precise intelligence inputs during the early hours, alert BSF personnel recovered a packet of heroin weighing 569 grams from agricultural fields near Dhariwal village. The packet had illuminating strips attached, indicating a possible drone drop.
Later, following the detection of drone activity and activation of technical countermeasures, BSF troops recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone and another packet of heroin weighing 560 grams from fields near Bharopal village, the release said.
In another operation the same day, vigilant BSF personnel conducted an intensive search and recovered a DJI Mavic Air 3 drone along with a packet of heroin weighing 546 grams from Bhindi Khurd village.
Subsequently, another DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was recovered from a field near Roranwala Khurd village, underscoring the BSF’s persistent efforts and technological vigilance in curbing cross-border smuggling.
Earlier this week, on Monday, BSF and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly recovered approximately 5.3 kilograms of a heroin-like substance during a search operation in the RS Pura sector.
Terming the seizure a “major success,” BSF Deputy Inspector General Chiter Pal said the operation thwarted an attempt by smugglers across the border to push narcotics into India.
“We conducted a joint operation here, and this is a big catch. The neighbouring country’s attempts have been stopped. An investigation is underway, and more details will follow. Around five kilograms have been recovered,” he stated.
