Srinagar: Over 9 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first two hours of polling for the Budgam assembly bye-election in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
Polling commenced at 7 am amid bone-chilling cold, as most parts of the Valley experienced sub-zero temperatures overnight.
By 9 am, Budgam had registered a voting percentage of 9.36 per cent, they added.
In last year’s assembly elections, the constituency had witnessed a total voter turnout of 51.13 per cent.
