Deputy Commissioner Budgam on Monday chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions on managing the stray dog menace in educational and health institutions across the district.

During the meeting, the DC took detailed feedback from concerned departments, including Municipal Committees, the Animal Husbandry Department, and district-level officers responsible for ensuring safety measures in schools, colleges, hospitals, and other public facilities.

The DC stressed the need for strict compliance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines, directing officials to expedite sterilisation drives, establish proper shelter facilities, and enhance coordination to prevent stray dog attacks, especially in vulnerable areas.

He also instructed educational and health institutions to adopt preventive measures, including awareness campaigns, controlled waste disposal, and timely reporting of stray dog presence within their premises.

The meeting concluded with a directive to submit a comprehensive action-taken report, highlighting progress achieved and steps planned to ensure safer environments for students, patients, and staff across Budgam.
