In a significant move against terror networks, the Budgam Police on Wednesday attached three immovable properties belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist handlers affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir-based outfit JKNOP. The properties are located in the Khag, Chewa Beerwah, and Harwani Khansahib areas of Budgam district, officials said.
The action, carried out in the presence of concerned executive magistrates, is part of an ongoing crackdown on terror operatives and their support infrastructure, according to a statement from Kashmir Police.
The attached properties include:
- A double-storied residential house at Harwani Khansahib (Khasra No. 763), owned by Manzoor Ahmad Chopan alias Rayees, son of Gh. Mohi-ud-din Chopan.
- A double-storied residential house and 5 Kanals, 13 Marlas of land at Chewa Budgam (Khasra No. 151), owned by Mohammad Yousuf Malik alias Molvi, son of Ab. Rahim Malik.
- A land parcel measuring 19.5 Marlas at Khag (Khasra Nos. 1093 and 1094), owned by Bilal Ahmad Wani alias Umer, son of Gh. Ahmad Wani of Nagbal Khag.
The property attachment was conducted under FIR No. 58/2024 registered at Police Station Khag. The case involves violations under Sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Sections 18, 20, and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Proceedings were also initiated under Section 25 of the UAPA for attachment of properties linked to terrorism.
According to the police, these handlers have been operating from Pakistan, orchestrating and supporting terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir over the years.
“This action is part of sustained efforts to dismantle the financial, logistical, and operational networks of terror groups and their cross-border facilitators. It sends a clear message that those engaged in anti-national activities will face stringent legal action,” the statement added.
