New Delhi, Dec 03: In a swift humanitarian response, the Indian Air Force’s C-17 aircraft airlifted a para field hospital to Colombo as part of relief efforts for flood-hit Sri Lanka. The deployment underscores India’s commitment to assisting its neighbour in times of crisis.

Officials said the Army has mobilised an integrated task force comprising medical teams, engineering units, and relief specialists to support rescue and rehabilitation operations. The para field hospital is equipped to provide emergency medical care, surgical facilities, and essential supplies to affected communities.

The mission follows reports of widespread devastation caused by torrential rains and landslides across Sri Lanka, which have displaced thousands and strained local infrastructure. Indian forces are expected to work closely with Sri Lankan authorities to ensure timely aid reaches those in need.

Defence sources noted that the deployment reflects India’s policy of regional solidarity and humanitarian assistance. They added that the integrated task force will remain in Colombo until immediate relief operations are stabilised and critical needs are addressed.

Local observers welcomed the move, describing it as a vital gesture of friendship and cooperation between the two countries during a challenging time.
