New Delhi: Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) Chairman Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar recently met President Droupadi Murmu to present details of the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind, scheduled from November 11 to 25, 2025, in India.

He was accompanied by Meenakashi Lekhi, former MP, ex-Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, and Chairperson of the tournament’s Organising Committee, according to a CABI release.

The historic tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches in New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo. It will feature teams from Australia, England, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the USA, comprising 21 league matches, two semi-finals, and a grand finale.

Reflecting on the meeting with the President, Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar said,
“It was a privilege to meet the Hon’ble President and present this landmark event, which celebrates inclusion, courage, and the sporting spirit of visually impaired women cricketers worldwide.”

Meenakashi Lekhi added,
“The Hon’ble President is an inspiration to all women. Specially-abled men and women are deeply grateful for her continued support of this cause.”

It was confirmed earlier this week that if Pakistan qualifies for the final, the summit clash will be held in Colombo. Organised by CABI, the cricketing arm of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, the World Cup underscores India’s leadership in creating inclusive and equitable sporting platforms, especially for women athletes with disabilities.

This milestone event follows India’s gold-winning performance at the 2023 IBSA World Games, where the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team made history by defeating Australia in the finals.

With the world watching, the Indian women are now ready to take guard, play fearless cricket, and create another historic chapter on home soil.
