New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Border Security Force (BSF) Assistant Accounts Officer for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 from a contractor, officials said on Saturday.
According to sources, Dharmender Kumar Verma, posted in the Public Accounts Office, had initially demanded ₹2 lakh — around 15–20% of the total pending bills — to clear payments owed to the contractor.
“Following negotiations, the accused AAO and other unidentified individuals agreed to accept ₹2 lakh. The CBI laid a trap on July 18 and caught Verma red-handed while receiving ₹40,000 from the complainant,” a CBI spokesperson stated.
