New Delhi: Amid widespread flight delays and cancellations caused by dense fog across north India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed all airlines to ensure proper passenger support and assistance at airports.

The ministry asked airlines to strictly adhere to passenger facilitation norms, including timely sharing of flight status updates, availability of staff at help desks, and adequate arrangements for food, water and seating for stranded travellers.

With visibility dropping sharply at several airports, especially in Delhi-NCR, flight operations have been severely impacted over the past few days. The ministry emphasized that passenger convenience and safety must remain a top priority during weather-related disruptions.

Airlines have also been instructed to coordinate closely with airport operators and air traffic control to manage congestion and minimize inconvenience. Special focus has been laid on assisting elderly passengers, children, and those with medical needs.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is monitoring the situation closely and warned that airlines failing to comply with passenger welfare guidelines during delays and cancellations may face regulatory action.

Passengers have been advised to check flight status with airlines before heading to airports and to remain patient as weather conditions continue to affect aviation operations.
