ChatGPT has its AI tool to create videos and images and now free users are getting the chance to use some of its features.

ChatGPT users can now use Sora to generate images for free. The AI tool feature built within ChatGPT lets you create images and even videos using text prompts. The rollout marks another major step in making advanced creative tools more accessible to a broader audience.

While image generation is now freely available to all ChatGPT users, video creation capabilities within Sora remain exclusive to paying subscribers.

Those with a Plus or Pro plan can unlock the option to generate videos in full HD (1080p) quality, with a maximum duration of 20 seconds. The decision to limit video access to paid users likely stems from the high computational demands and processing power required to produce realistic AI-generated video content.

To use the Sora platform within ChatGPT, users must create a unique username. This not only identifies them on the platform but also enables social sharing of their creations, mimicking the functionality of modern social media apps.

Each user also receives a personal media library, which is automatically organized into intuitive categories including “My Media,” “Favourites,” “Uploads,” and “Trash.” Additionally, users can create their own folders and name them according to personal preference, making it easier to manage and retrieve content for future use.

Adding to its social aspect, Sora includes a community feed that showcases both images and videos generated by other users.
