Chief Minister Omar Abdullah approves financial aid for victims of the Badhaal tragedy

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved and released a grant of ₹30 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the Next of Kin (NoK) of the victims of the Badhaal tragedy.

In December 2024, the village of Badhaal in Rajouri district was struck by a devastating incident that claimed the lives of 17 people, including 13 children, leaving the community in deep shock and grief.

To support the bereaved families in rebuilding their lives, the Chief Minister sanctioned financial assistance aimed at providing some relief to the affected households during this difficult time.

MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Chief Minister for granting financial aid to the NoK of the deceased victims. Your compassionate support during this period of grief has brought much-needed relief to the affected families and is sincerely appreciated.”

The Chief Minister’s timely intervention has offered solace to the distressed families and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to stand by its people during times of crisis.
