JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today addressed the TEDx event at JK Public School, Kunjwani, as the chief guest, motivating students to push limits under the theme “Beyond Boundaries.”
Speaking to a hall filled with students, along with other distinguished speakers and school officials, the Chief Minister reflected on the concept of boundaries—found in geography, politics, laws, and social norms. While some boundaries serve important purposes, others act as unnecessary restrictions. He noted that people often impose limits on themselves, shaped by experiences or stereotypes. “These boundaries may be real or imagined, but every major exploration and advancement in civilization has come from crossing them,” he said.

Urging students to aim high, he emphasized that boundaries should never hold them back. “Set ambitious goals. Unless you challenge your limits, you cannot create a unique identity for yourself,” he said. He encouraged students to ask questions, speak up, and refuse to let hesitation silence them. Gender, background, or appearance, he added, should never be obstacles to achievement.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of distinguishing between self-imposed or restrictive boundaries and the laws of the land. “Go beyond boundaries, but do so lawfully. Ambitions should never come at the cost of breaking the law,” he advised.
“Set multiple goals and dedicate your life to pursuing them. The journey itself is worthwhile, regardless of the outcome,” the Chief Minister told the audience.
Other speakers at the event included noted educationists Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and Usha Mani, who also shared their insights with the students.
