Samba: To commemorate World Environment Day 2025, Chinar Eco Warriors undertook a value-added greening initiative on 05 June 2025 at village Goran, District Samba (J&K). In collaboration with the State Forest Department, the plantation drive witnessed active participation from forest officials, local populace and enthusiastic school children.
As part of the drive saplings were planted in the region, with a special emphasis on fruit-bearing species, aiming to provide long-term ecological and economic benefits to the community. In a parallel effort, additional plantations were carried out with Parbhat Ali and Chaukas Chouvis Battalions of the Indian Army further expanding the green footprint.
A lecture on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” was also conducted at Goran, where participants were encouraged to do away with clay and plastic pots and practice the kokedama method, a plastic free, soil and moss based technique as an eco-friendly alternative for indoor and ornamental gardening in offices and homes.
Notably, school children actively participated in the event reflecting their growing role in contributing meaningfully to greening Jammu & Kashmir. Their involvement infused the campaign with youthful energy and symbolised the future generation’s commitment to environmental stewardship
