CID Sleuths Raid High-Security Kot Bhalwal and Poonch Jails to Thwart Radicalization Attempts
Jammu, November 20 — Sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department (Counter Intelligence) today carried out surprise raids at the high-security Kot Bhalwal and Poonch jails. The operation was aimed at preventing radicalization attempts and ensuring that prison facilities remain free from extremist influence.
Officials confirmed that the raids were conducted following intelligence inputs suggesting efforts by certain inmates to spread radical ideologies within the prison environment. During the searches, cell blocks, barracks, and common areas were thoroughly examined, with several items seized for further investigation.
The CID teams interacted with jail authorities to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and reinforce measures designed to counter indoctrination activities. Special emphasis was placed on curbing communication channels that could be misused by inmates to propagate extremist narratives.
Authorities stated that the raids form part of a larger strategy to safeguard correctional facilities and maintain internal security. They reiterated that strict vigilance will continue in all high-security jails to ensure that prisons do not become breeding grounds for radicalization.
