CISF DG meets LG Manoj Sinha; discusses security situation and force’s role

Srinagar: Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Praveer Ranjan, called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss the prevailing security situation and the force’s role in maintaining it, officials said on Wednesday.

A CISF spokesperson said that Ranjan, accompanied by Additional Director General Sudhir Kumar and Inspector General Navajyoti Gogoi, met the Lieutenant Governor in Srinagar on Tuesday.

“Detailed discussions were held on the current security scenario and ongoing CISF deployments across Jammu and Kashmir,” the spokesperson said, adding that the LG was briefed on the force’s operational preparedness and its role in protecting vital installations in the Union Territory.

At present, the CISF has 12 units deployed in J&K, securing key establishments such as airports, central jails, power grids, and hydropower projects.

“With the rapid pace of developmental activities in the region, the role and presence of CISF are expected to expand further in the coming days,” the spokesperson added.

The meeting also reaffirmed the continued coordination between the CISF and the UT administration to ensure robust security arrangements and effective response mechanisms aligned with national security objectives.
