CM Omar Abdullah announces immediate ex-gratia relief for Kathua cloudburst victims

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday announced ex-gratia relief for families affected by the Kathua cloudburst and landslide, with assistance coming from both the CM’s Relief Fund and the SDRF.

According to a post on X from the Chief Minister’s Office, the aid is aimed at providing immediate support to the victims and helping families rebuild their lives.

Seven people, including five children from four families, lost their lives, while six others were injured in the twin incidents in Kathua early Sunday.

The relief package includes ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased, ₹1 lakh for the seriously injured, and ₹50,000 for those with minor injuries. Additionally, ₹1 lakh has been sanctioned for fully damaged houses, ₹50,000 for severely damaged ones, and ₹25,000 for partially damaged houses.
