SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday reviewed the condition of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and instructed authorities to ensure its prompt restoration.

The highway remained closed to vehicular traffic due to multiple landslides caused by heavy rainfall in the Udhampur-Ramban belt.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office posted on X, Abdullah chaired a meeting to assess the status of NH-44, along with other national highways and major roads damaged by the recent rains.

He directed authorities to expedite road repairs, ensure smooth traffic flow, and maintain uninterrupted supply of essential goods, particularly to the Valley and remote areas. The chief minister also stressed the importance of close coordination among departments to provide timely updates and respond promptly to public needs.
