CM Launches J&K Tourism App
SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a meeting to review the development of emerging tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, Director Tourism Kashmir Raja Yaqoob Farooq, MD JKTDC Shreya Singhal, Director Tourism Jammu, representatives from BISAG-N, and other concerned officials, both in person and virtually.


During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for site-specific tourism development for the identified destinations, highlighting the preparation of a Master Plan for each location. He stressed the importance of establishing dedicated solid and liquid waste management systems to promote environmentally sustainable tourism. Additionally, he underlined the necessity of a fully staffed Project Management Unit to strengthen institutional mechanisms and called on the Tourism Department to submit proposals for cabinet approval promptly.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the need for multi-tiered coordination among tourism authorities, local bodies, line departments, and between the J&K Government and the Government of India to ensure projects are executed smoothly and within set timelines.
A presentation was made on the tourism potential of emerging destinations and the employment opportunities they could create for local youth. The Chief Minister urged that while developing these destinations, a careful balance be maintained among Economy, Ecology, and Equity—the “3E” principle.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the J&K Tourism App, designed to help tourists and interested individuals explore tourism destinations, access available facilities, and obtain a wide range of relevant information.
