JAMMU: Sainik School Nagrota celebrated its 56th Raising Day with a landmark event as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Jenab Omar Abdullah, inaugurated the newly constructed girls’ hostel, Triveni.
On his arrival, the Chief Minister was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and paid tribute to the school’s brave alumni by laying a wreath at the Shaurya Smarak. He later joined the staff for a group photograph to mark the occasion.
The celebrations were attended by senior officers from Headquarters 16 Corps, including Lt Gen PK Mishra, AVSM, YSM, SM, GOC HQ 16 Corps, and Maj Gen Paramvir Singh Dagar, VSM, COS HQ 16 Corps, along with officials from the State Education Department and school alumni.





The Raising Day began with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony, where the Chief Minister was joined by Cadet Stanzin Chosgyal, the School Cadet Captain, and Cadet Ayush Shan, the junior-most cadet. Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, presented a specially crafted school memento to the Chief Minister, symbolizing the school’s values of knowledge, bravery, and discipline. During High Tea, the Chief Minister interacted with staff and inscribed words of encouragement in the Visitors’ Book, recognizing the school’s contribution to nation-building.
The inauguration of the Triveni girls’ hostel was the highlight of the day, reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusivity and modern residential facilities. The new hostel ensures that girl cadets have an environment equal to their male counterparts, fostering excellence in academics, discipline, and leadership, and opening a new chapter in the school’s journey.
