Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday praised 10-year-old racing prodigy Atiqa Mir, expressing hope that she will one day reach the pinnacle of motorsport.
Atiqa recently delivered an impressive performance in the Champions of the Future Academy (COFTA) karting series in Orechova, Slovakia, finishing fourth after leading for much of the race. The series is closely monitored by the top officials of the F1 Academy.
Atiqa is the first Indian to receive support from Formula 1 and is part of the F1 Academy DYD programme.
“Well done to young Atiqa. Her natural talent and passion for racing are evident. I hope the day is not far when she becomes the first Kashmiri to compete at the highest level of motorsport — F1. Keep up the great work, Atiqa, and my best wishes always,” Abdullah wrote on X.
Earlier this month, Atiqa had also won the DAMC series in Dubai.
