Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday directed all government departments to ensure timely execution of approved projects, emphasizing that it is now time to translate decisions into tangible outcomes.
Chairing a meeting with the council of ministers and administrative secretaries at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, Abdullah announced that a series of district-level review meetings would soon be held across the Jammu division to evaluate developmental progress and address public concerns.
The meeting came shortly after the government resumed operations from the Jammu Secretariat for the next six months under the age-old Darbar Move—the biannual shifting of the Union Territory’s administrative offices between Srinagar and Jammu with the changing seasons.
Reviewing the functioning of various departments and assessing administrative preparedness, Abdullah described the resumption of the Darbar Move after a four-year gap as “a welcome experience,” according to an official statement.
Highlighting the need for effective governance, the Chief Minister said the focus must now shift from planning to delivery. “All stages of planning and discussion have been completed. It is now time to translate decisions into tangible outcomes on the ground,” he said.
Abdullah urged departments to prioritize the timely completion of approved projects to ensure visible progress at the grassroots level. While acknowledging the financial challenges facing the government, he assured that the issue of limited resources “will be appropriately addressed.”
Calling for fiscal prudence, he instructed officers to maintain a balance between effective service delivery and avoiding unnecessary expenditure.
The Chief Minister also noted that similar review meetings have already been held in Kashmir and would now be extended to districts across the Jammu division to monitor developmental progress and resolve public issues.
