New Delhi: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have cut the price of 19 kg commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by ₹51.50, effective Monday, September 1.
There is no change in the rates of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders.
From September 1, the retail price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi will be ₹1,580, down from ₹1,631.50. In other metros, the revised rates are: Kolkata – ₹1,684, Mumbai – ₹1,531.50, and Chennai – ₹1,738, according to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
Domestic LPG prices remain unchanged since April 8. Currently, a 14.2 kg cylinder costs ₹853 in Delhi, ₹868.50 in Chennai, ₹879 in Kolkata, and ₹852.50 in Mumbai, IOC data shows.
The latest price cut is expected to benefit small businesses in the capital, including eateries, hotels, and shops that depend on commercial LPG for daily operations.
In August, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri credited the Centre’s decision to release ₹30,000 crore to oil companies in 12 installments for helping keep LPG prices stable despite global volatility. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had cleared the compensation package on August 8.
